The Metropolitan Community College Foundation is pleased to announce Dr. Jacqueline I. Snyder and Mr. David L. Disney as Co-Chairs of the inaugural Five Star Gala.
The gala will be held at the Kansas City Marriott Downtown-Muehlebach on Thursday, March 25, 2010. As Co-Chairs, Dr. Snyder and Mr. Disney will assist the MCC Foundation
in honoring Mr. Henry W. Bloch and the Henry W. Bloch Scholars Program. Proceeds from the Five Star Gala will support scholarships, academic coaching and special campus programs.
Dr. Snyder, chancellor of MCC, did not hesitate when asked to join Mr. Disney as a Co-Chair for the gala. “I was very excited to have the opportunity to be a part of our college’s
first gala and to honor such an important person in Mr. Bloch” she explained. “He has meant so much to MCC and its scholarship program,” she added.
Dr. Snyder, who recently announced her retirement as chancellor of MCC, noted that “serving with David will ensure our success in establishing a new tradition for MCC.”
Dr. Snyder will retire effective June 30, 2010 after serving as an administrator for MCC for 15 years, including the last 5 years as chancellor.
She also served as president of Penn Valley Community College, one of MCC’s five campuses. “When we thought about choosing a name for our fist gala we
wanted it to inform the public about MCC and its five campuses and convey an image of elegance of the event. Five Star Gala seemed to be the title,”
described Snyder. In addition to her work as MCC chancellor, Dr. Snyder serves on several boards including the Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce; Union Station; Economic Development Corporation;
Kansas City Area Development Council; Full Employment Council and United Way.
Mr. Disney serves as the president for the MCC Board of Trustees. He has served on the board since 2000. He is a Senior Vice President of the JE Dunn
Construction Company and also serves on many community boards including Boy Scouts of America; The Children’s Museum of Kansas City; Experiencia; and
Westport House. He was eager to help MCC launch its inaugural gala. “I was honored to be asked to Co-Chair this momentous event for our college.
It will be a great opportunity for us to tell our story and the impact we have made on hundreds of thousands of people in our community,” he offered.
“Many people will be surprised by what they hear but will be equally surprised by the quality of the event.”
